Waterfront, Counseling, Program,Conference

I came as a conferee to Sr Hi in 1975-1978. Then my first summer on staff I worked on the waterfront with Linda"I have balls" Ryder. I thought my first summer was 1979 but I am not sure. I do remember missing the summer of 1982 and feeling absolutely miserable the entire time I was away! I took 1985 off as well, to "do grown-up things". By the end of my first summer, I had mastered the ever tricky question "so, what's with the water here?" and moved to trying my hand at counseling. Had a great time time out in the campsites with some great folks...got to be program director once and ended up as assistant director. Remember the "Peter Principle"? It definitely applied to me and I did rise to my greatest level of incapability! Should have stayed on the waterfront where I belonged! But where else would I learn those valuable life lessons!Surprised Anyway, it seems like with the exception of 1982 and 1985 I was there every summer until 2002, for at least a conference session or two. Some great and memorable moments? Ah..let's see: chanting O.F.F., the Indoor Indian Night where we tried to light the fire with a rocket engine, and someone farted during one of those really solemn, "chiefly" moments, great food from the kitchen on change over weekends (especially Burt's Beer Biscuits), Pat-I-mean-Eileen's grilled cheese sandwiches after hours, Linda surfing on the kitchen floor, Chuck geting struck by lightening, Alan's union jack bikinis.......gosh..I should not have started this! Too much great stuff to remember!
