Raise your hand and be counted!!!

So, I was just sipping some coffee and reminiscing about last years reunion and man, am I ready for this years! It is coming up fast and I am very curious about who is coming. So I said to myself, "Self, why not ask on the website to find out ." Myself relpied, "Great idea. You are a genius!" (Myself does not get out much and views me very much through a pair of severely rose colored glasses. Myself is also somewhat delusional. I have decided to find it charming.) So, without further ado - Who's coming? Post below and let me know. (Evan, I expect your name to be first!!!) And if you haven't registered, DO IT NOW! We need to fill up this joint quickly. And as we know from last year, space went fast. Click over this very minute and register. This is YOUR weekend and I want you all there! Then come back to this post and tell me who you are bringing. Call everyone you know who was there last year, and then call the folks who were not and light a fire under them, and do not take no for an answer. What are you bringing for crazy hat lunch? Who is going to be the medicine man for Indian Night? Will there be a FOG rolling in off the tranquil James? Are we too adult to still play winkem'? Let me know. Myself and I are dying to find out!

 OVER THE BLUFF WE GO!!!

Me too!

Flights booked and paid for....  so it's now an INTERNATIONAL reunion!

Take me home, country roads...

There is a feeling that I miss in my day-to-day life.  Maybe you can relate…  I remember with warm clarity the feeling of community we built at Chanco and I find myself missing it sometimes.  Don’t you?  I suppose you wouldn’t be perusing this website if you didn’t.  For me, it was the feeling of sitting on the floor of the Dining Hall, leaning on friends, singing along to the sound of guitars.  It was the feeling when the guitars would stop playing and all that was left lingering in the air was the perfect imperfection of young voices singing the last verse a cappella.   It was getting really, really filthy cleaning up a campsite and nearly falling down laughing about… well, about a hundred different little things, and knowing that you would never, ever forget the people working beside you.  It was knowing that you could look around and see truth and integrity and trust surrounding you.  It was the Spirit of Chanco.

I have known my whole life that Chanco changed me.  It helped me become a different and stronger person.   I know it was the people and I am grateful to so many folks for giving me EYC and camp, but it is also the place somehow.  It was true at the “Old Camp,” that is for sure.  Taylor Hall had magic within its walls – and the old Dining Hall was a place we have longed for ever since we moved the camp.  But whether folks talk about the “new” or the “old” Chanco, the place itself is sacred.  Just being there is rejuvenating for the soul.  I can remember racing through my young life and then getting to Chanco and just taking a deep breath and knowing who I was.  For me, the same has been true as an adult.

I know that I will be at the Alumni Reunion in October.  Count me in.  I will be there to see familiar faces and to sing familiar songs.  I will be there to help Chanco in any way I can.  I am also going to be there to find that old familiar feeling that I have missed.  I look forward to sharing our community with my family and to taking a deep breath and knowing who I am.

You are Kidding, right??

I would have been first if Boomer didn't cut in line. LOL. Was on vacation. I just hope that Jenny reads this and puts me in the same conference room this year (hint, hint). WE ARE NOT TO ADULT TO PLAY WINKUM.......EVER. I know that Sarah is glad of that.

I'm bringing the same kids this year as my son will be old enough to go next year. My mom is going and I think we're still working on  Chris Kohan, Steve Vaughn, Dwayne, Danny and the rest of the colonial heights group.

So.......of course I'm going. ;)

I'M DEFINITELY COMING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I’ve been busy all summer and haven’t had much time to play. Helen and I will be bringing our two girls and plan on spending a great deal of the time on the beach. My kids are jazzed to get back to the woods and have another adventure. Mackenzie and Mary Cameron are still talking about Indian Night from last year’s reunion. We are thinking of asking some of our fun friends and their kids to come with us who have never been to Chanco before to introduce them to all the shenanigans camp is known for. Our friends have heard all our zany Chanco stories from us, so they feel like they have already been there.

Tater, we do want to bring our dog with us - Margo. She is a Cairn terrier and is kind to everyone including other dogs. What is the policy? I recall there being dogs at camp as far back as I can remember. Did I mention that Margo can flush her own BM?

Anyway, I wouldn’t miss the 40th Camp Chanco Reunion for anything – especially if there is a T-shirt is involved. I also hope Jim Sitzler will be there to tell some funny stories from this summers’ camper sessions. Tater, thanks for the reminder!!!

I'll be there!!!

Although this might disappoint a few people, I'm going to show up.  I'm really looking forward to it!  And no, we're not too old to play winkem!  Who's up for a game?  And who's underwear will be flying for all to see after the midnight raid?  I'm already workng on my crazy hat and can't wait wait to see you all!

Definitely coming!

I'm definitely coming with my son- still working on the husband (dogs need to be let out or house gets stinky).  I'm very excited about the Alumni Association and catching up with old friends (not that we're old, that's a figment of the imagination).

Who else is coming?  And I think they're calling for SNOW that weekend!
